Life’s a Beach

padre_ocean1
Well, we’re back! Really, we’ve been back since last Thursday or so, but I’ve been too lazy and busy with housework to get back to bloggin’. It has been a really nice break but I did miss the blog and reading everyone else’s blogs. I did get quite a bit of knitting done this week, yay! I completed the openwork tank, but not in time to wear it on the beach. It is cute, but after seeing the pictures, some major ab workouts need to happen before wearing it in public. I don’t know what is compelling me to show you guys these pictures since they are not flattering, but I’ll share anyway. Here’s the back and here’s the front. The pattern is from the Summer Vogue Knitting (pattern #1) and I used the Microspun that it called for. I ended up using just under 3 balls of yarn so this tank cost me less than $6 since I got the Microspun on sale. It’s a good thing, since it’s not really an everyday wear sort of tank, definitely a beach going tank.

The beach was wonderful and our vacation was incredible, but it’s nice to be home and to get back to our normal schedule. We had kind of reached that bouncing off the walls point that kids reach when summer vacation is coming to an end and both the parents and kids are ready for them to return. I’ll share more stories and more pictures this week, including another finished object!

  3. What a beautiful tank! Great job. I remember liking it in the magazine and thinking ‘not for me’. But you look terrific in it! Love the back – very sexy. Wear it proudly!
Thanks so much for being my secret pal! I’ve really enjoyed all your sweet gifts, especially the stitch markers you made and the yarn for the bucket hats (perfect timing!). Can’t wait for the last one! Best wishes. 🙂

  4. Oh, la, la…… very cute tank and it can only be worn while you are young, so enjoy! You did a great job on it. Glad you had fun on vacation.

  5. Kudos on the tank. I really like the color!
And I know what you mean about posting unflattering photos on blogs. I can’t seem to take a decent picture these days but I don’t want to be vain so I post them anyways.
But all that is moot, since you look cute in your pictures!

  6. Fabulous! I was considering that same tank with my Microspun… I don’t know if I’d have the guts to wear it! As you say, maybe to the beach :). You look great!

  7. You’ve inspired me to work on my Openwork tank as well. It’s on the needles right now but needs to be frogged, I keep messing up on the pattern repeats, any hints for keeping track of things??

  8. You look great, silly! And your tank looks awesome! I looked at that pattern and didn’t know if I could pull it off, but you have given me new hope! What a pretty top. 🙂
