I'm not even sure what day it is in this project, but I'll tell you a little bit about the creativity that I've been involved in over the last few days!
Friday, we went trick or treating with the Kiddo, so not a lot of creativity there, just sharing the results of my creativity with his costume. He had a blast following the big kids from house to house, trying to go into each house and taking the whole bowl of candy when offered.
Saturday, I got to go to the Quilt Show in Houston (I tried to find a link, but to no avail). It was amazing! We looked at the quilts, some amazing works of art, and spent a while in the marketplace. I had the kiddo with me because the husband was studying for a big test (which he passed, yay!), but he did pretty good in the stroller and backpack and allowed me to shop (though not for a new sewing machine, this time around)! For some reason, the thing that kept jumping out to me was the redwork. Maybe it was because of Christmas coming up, but I just thought it was so pretty. I walked away with a pattern for 10 different Santa ornaments. I think I may use these designs for tea towels and things like that, as well. I'm already about halfway through the first design (which was my creative act on Sunday).
The project of the last two days has been organizing my creative space aka my craft room. I have a lot of different supplies for the bazillion different crafty pursuits that I dip my toes into, but it has been so poorly organized that I find myself buying duplicate stuff. I also wanted to use what we had on hand. Luckily, we had bought a pegboard for me months ago and it had just been sitting in the garage. After a little research on flickr, I got the idea to use an ikea hook system for all of my scrapbooking stuff. Today, we got it all up and put together.
This is what you see when you walk into my craft room. I don't really like the lamp in front of everything, but I need the light when I'm working on things. I'll be keeping my eyes out for a shorter lamp. I love how I can see many of the things that I have…it's much more likely that I'll actually use them this way!
Here you can see the ribbons and threads across the top of the pegboard, and scissors, crayons, colored pencils, tape and other tools hanging in the middle and along the bottom. I don't think I'll really figure out where I want everything on the pegboard until I actually use it.
I love the little bins along the bottom. I think I'll be picking up more of those and maybe some more of the jars, which would be good for beads, buttons and such. Here I have the redwork pattern I'm working on now, stamps, stamp pads and other scrapbooking gear in the little bins.
This is my little Ikea hook rack. We used to have this hanging in the kitchen but took it down a while ago. I have my stickers, letter stickers, adhesives and shape template each hung on a different hook. I love having the stickers hanging up! I'm getting ready to work on a Christmas scrapbook, as you can probably tell.
So, it's not all clean, yet. I didn't show you the area between the door and the desk. :) But, it's getting there! I can't wait to have a little time to create in this room!
What a lovely space to work in. Lovely to have everything organised and to hand
A great lamp would be a desk lamp, one with a wide bulb apparatus. Likely a florescent tube lamp. The ones with a crane like neck. Am I making sense. I can see it in MY mind! LOL.
Looks like someone has been to IKEA!!!!!!!!!!!!
