I haven’t started anything new, still plugging away on the Retro Redux Shrug. So, in an attempt to distract you, I thought I’d tell you how I spent my first Mother’s Day!
We got a new tent in April and hadn’t had the opportunity to use it, yet. I have suggested several times to the husband that we should go camping, but he thought that I would be miserable, since I am pretty hugely pregnant and a bit of an insomniac at this stage of pregnancy, so he vetoed the idea. Until this weekend…
Yep, it is what you think it is…we went camping in the backyard! This was the brainchild of the husband. It was really fun! He set up camp, so I didn’t even have to do the hard stuff, and we did all of the things that I love about camping. We made Silver Turtles, which are meals where you put everything in aluminum foil and wrap it up and put it on the fire, and S’mores, with chocolate AND reese’s peanut butter cups (oh they were so good). We only stayed in the tent until 1 a.m., when we decided to call it a night and sleep in our real bed where there is air conditioning and not as much street noise. It was something completely spontaneous that we won’t have the same opportunity to do when the little beast gets here in seven weeks or so, so it was the perfect way to celebrate my first Mother’s Day! I hope you had a great Mother’s Day, too!
That sounds so fun!! What a great idea. Happy Mother’s Day!!
So fun, we went camping when I was half way through cooking my son, I was hugeogamous!!!! I rolled over in the middle of the night and heard “splash” Our camp site was on the little drain path for rain water. We were flooded. We were soaked, me, the hub, the brother’s in law. Yea – I don’t camp anymore!!!
Who says you can’t do it with the beast in tow!
I am thinking to do a 2 year size for the sweater. That way I can test the pattern numbers and you will have something to look forward to for the beast to wear.
Mmmm… silver turtles! I love them! Such a fun spontaneous idea to do – what a great Mother’s Day!
What a fantastic idea! We have also been missing our camping, more for the knowledge that we won’t be able to do any of our usual trips this summer than because it’s been nice enough here yet to actually consider any real camping, pregnant or no. *sigh* S’mores.
