Unexpected Weekend

Picture_007_1

It was quite the unexpected weekend, mostly in a good way.  I unexpectedly finished all of the squares that look like this for the beastie’s quilt.  They actually went really quickly.  The husband got a new camera for his birthday and I took advantage of his desire to take a picture of anything that would stand still long enough.  This picture is true to color and you can see the little squigglies in the blue part and dots in the bug part that unify the fabrics I picked.  The only thing I don’t like about this pattern is that it is difficult to tell if it is coming together straight or not while you are constructing it.  I didn’t really know if the square was wonky until I finished the corner triangles.  Because of this, some of these squares may have to be re-done later.  This one isn’t as wonky as it looks, I just need to press it better.  I’m going to wait until I get all of the squares finished to tell if they will all work or if some of them need to be re-constructed.  Unfortunately, my back has started in on me with the carrying around of the wee beastie, so I didn’t get any quilting done beyond this.

We had unexpected guests (my brother in law and sister in law) on Saturday night which turned out to be fun.  On Sunday afternoon, the guys that the husband rides bikes with ended up hanging around for a couple of hours outside our house enjoying the beautiful weather, so that was an unexpected treat, too.  In the midst of all of this, I did get some more knitting done, but not near what I thought I would.  Bitsy baby socks take a while even though they are little.  Maybe I’ll have an FO to show tomorrow.

  1. The quilt square is super cute! The beastie is going to love it (once he’s able to focus his eyes and, you know, communicate ;). Sounds like a great weekend!

  2. I love that fabric – how adorable!
