Drumroll Please

It’s a BOY!  We were completely and totally surprised because only three people predicted that it would be a boy and everyone else we talked to was sure it was a girl (including us).  But, it was a great surprise!  I’m really excited about being a mom to a boy and all that may involve!  I’ll spare you the pictures of the boy parts but let’s just say that yes we’re sure and there were more "package" pictures than there were pictures of his little face!

Now, I feel like there is so much to do because we are at a point where we can "do" some things, like buy furniture, pick out stuff for the nursery, decorate the nursery, finish registering….the list goes on and on.  I’m looking forward to all of that, but I’m especially looking forward to doing a little baby knitting.  The little beast is due July 1st, so hand knits will likely not really be worn until the fall/winter except for the occassional sweater or hat to protect from overzealous air conditioning.  Here’s my current baby knitting list (knowing that I will barely scratch the surface of this list):

– a painted turtle hat from Itty-Bitty Hats

– some basic striped hats with stash yarn

– a psychedelic squares baby blanket (in progress) from Mason Dixon Knitting

– A Pea Pod sweater from Interweave Knits

– A Classic Cardigan and maybe the Hooded Blanket from The Baby Knits Book by Debbie Bliss

And, because you asked, click the extended entry to see my pregnant self.

My dad took this one a couple of weeks ago, so I guess I was about 17 weeks.

This one, Jason took last week (at week 19).  It may show why the doc was slightly concerned about my weight gain this visit, but it’s all in my belly!  🙂  Needless to say, I’ll be watching the carbs a bit more this month.

  1. Congratulations! You look beautiful – that picture by the window is just gorgeous. Love your list of knitting projects – especially the pea pod set. So cute! I can’t wait to start working on baby stuff myself. 🙂

  2. wow, you look really great! and congrats on it being a boy! huzzah!
don’t worry too much about the weight gain. the same thing happened to my friend who is carrying a boy. she gained a lot right away but then plateaued and was totally fine 🙂

  3. Congratulations! You look absolutely beautiful pregnant!
Being the mom of three boys I can tell you I wouldn’t change it for the world. They are delights, full of love and continually put a smile on your face. You will have your share of runny noses, scrapped knees and the joy of hearing “mommieeee I wuv yu” and getting big hugs and kisses.

  4. A maternity nurse at a party told me I was having a boy before I had a chance to tell her, because I was carrying all up front. And you look like you’re carrying like I am – although right now I look like I’m carrying an entire Thanksgiving Turkey! Congrats on the boy! We’ve enjoyed buying boy stuff for baby lug! 🙂
