I’m out of town on business this week but I brought along my trusty laptop and camera so I could show you a couple of weekend acquisitions.  First of all, this is what I made this weekend.

I apologize that it’s not knitting, but I embroidered this apron!  I know these pics aren’t the greatest, I’m without photo shop and took them early this morning before I left, but the ribbon on the picture is a light purple, with the heart in a darker purple.  If I had it to do all over again, I would have done the center of the flowers in the light purple with the outsides in the dark, but I think it’s fine.  The short version of the story is that my aunt presented an apron to me at my bridal luncheon as a "passing the torch" sort of gesture.  My cousin’s wedding is this weekend and I can’t find the blasted apron!  So, I created this one to stand in for the time being.  The idea is to have the people who are at the luncheon sign it and then I will embroider their signatures so it will be a permanent reminder of her bridal luncheon.  It’s up to my aunt whether or not she wants to use it, though, so we’ll see.  If not, I’ll have a pretty apron, not that I’ve ever used one, but that’s beside the point.

While at Michael’s, I saw this…

I thought to myself "Self, that wine holder is just the right size to hold knitting needles".  I have been wanting to organize my yarn closet, and one of my problems is crazy straight needles that don’t want to be contained.  So, for $2, I now have a straight needle containing device.  I showed it to my husband in the car (he had been in the electronics store) and he said "that’s to hold knitting needles, isn’t it?" without my even telling him.  Smart man.  Okay, back to work…or actually to a baseball game…but it’s a work function, so I’ve gotta go.
