One Track Mind

This weekend is the MS 150.  I somehow have gotten myself signed up to ride 180 miles (I think the whole point of the 150 in MS150 is that it’s supposed to be 150 miles, but this one is 180) on a  bicycle from Houston to Austin.  Basically, it’s all I can think about.  I am so nervous that I won’t be able to finish it.  I do think I might have lost my mind.  At any rate, people have already donated to the cause, so it’s too late to turn back now.

On my final training ride last night before the big day, I realized that I need to have songs in mind that I can sing to myself to keep me going on stretches where I don’t have anyone to talk to or don’t have the energy to talk.  Any suggestions?  My favorites so far have been "Stickshifts and Safetybelts" by Cake and "Movin’ right along" by the muppets (Fozzie and Kermie to be exact).  So, if you’re the type to pray, please say a little prayer for me on Saturday and Sunday as I will be in the process of getting my butt kicked on a bicycle.  Knitting content will surely return next week.

Oh, and there is no extended post…I just can’t get that to go away.  🙂

  1. hey girl! good luck with the race this weekend! i can’t wait to see how it goes…as for road music, I thought of a good song for you…one of our upbeat road trip songs…the CD cover has green on it and it talks about the sea or the water…but, my mind just went blank!! I’ll have to get back with you on that one…on another note, be sure to thank your knitting buddies for me! i just read your blog for the first time since March and I LOVE the embroidered flowers!! And I know my little drama queen will love them as well! I’ll send you a picture of her in it when we get it!!

  2. What is 30 more miles after you have ridden 150???? I know you will do fine. Call me and let me know how it went when you get rested up from it!

  3. Are you insane?! I thought it was a 30 mile thingy! I think one of your entries must have been about you training by going 30 miles or something! Lordy.
Best of luck to you and your ass 🙂 (when I ride a bike for even 1 mile, my arse hurts).
Wow, you are amazing. I’ll be thinking about you and sending out good vibes for ya!
