Giving Thanks

I am so thankful that it is a short week!  Okay, I’m thankful for more than that, but that list will follow.  I do want to thank Stef for the fabulous yarn that she sent me months ago that I’ve just now knitted up.  I used the yarn Stef sent, which is so soft, with little tufts of softness coming off it, and held it with some Calmer I have left over from my Audrey sweater and came up with this little scarf.  It’s skinny and not super long, but I think it will look great with my jean jacket!

I think that I’ll get a lot of use out of it.  Oh, and I finished it in less than 24 hours, only knitting on it for maybe 2-3.  I used the Mistake Rib that I found in the Last Minute Knitted Gifts book, I’m sure it’s found lots of places but I liked a scarf in there that used it and I tried several other patterns that didn’t make the tufts stick out enough.  I really needed some instant gratification since I’m in the midst of the Super Secret Project which is BIG!  Update on that, I have made progress and am feeling better about it.  I am already starting to assemble it as I go, so that I won’t have that waiting for me at the end.  I have 5 weeks and I think I’ll make it, but it’s gonna be close!

I’m hosting Thanksgiving this year for the first time ever.  Tonight, I’m going to get started by picking up a few last things that I forgot at the store and assembling a couple of dishes that can be done ahead of time.  Tommorow, my husband’s parents will be here in the early afternoon, so his mother will be able to help with the cooking from there.  We are hosting some exchange students from Taiwan and China that go to school and work with my husband, so it should be fun sharing something of our culture with them.
