Real Weekend, Real Post

Oh, it’s such a Monday. I think Mondays feel worse after you have had a great weekend because you’re more reluctant to give that up. We entered the weekend with no plans, which is something we don’t experience very often. Friday, I went shopping at Target for my sister’s birthday present. I knew what I wanted to get and wasn’t sure if I would be able to find it, but I did. Not only did I find it, but it was on sale! It’s amazing when that happens. I got a little crafty with it this weekend and if you are not my sister you can click here (warning: big picture). If you are my sister, don’t do it, I know you’re tempted but I think it will be worth the wait! You’ll have to guess what it is because I cannot go into further explanation until it is gifted. I don’t think that she checks this site, but you can’t be too sure. Also, if you want to know how I made it, go here. She just added some new patterns which I need to order!

sophie_feltedSaturday and Sunday were pretty laid back, with unexpected meet-ups with friends. We made it out to the new Ikea and to dinner at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants (Chuys, as featured on Newlyweds when they were in Houston). Last night, one of my friends called and said they were in my part of town and asked me to meet them at a friend’s house. I was reluctant because it was 8:30 p.m. and I’m old and didn’t want to stay out too late, but I went anyway and I’m glad I did. It was fun to see people, some that I hadn’t seen in a while. When I got home, I was still awake, so I finished up the project for my sister and I finally felted Sophie. I had promised myself that felting Sophie would be my reward for finishing the laundry, which I did. So, you can see the finished product on the right. I’ll take better pictures when it dries, but I love it. It’s smaller than I expected (I don’t have a very good concept of what a certain amount of inches will really look like), but I think it will be perfect! I need to buy a wallet, so I can use it. Right now my purse is an all in one kind of thing. Well, that’s my weekend in a nutshell. Hope yours was fun, too.

  1. I havent given Lissa the URL to this site, yet. She has asked for it I just keep forgetting to give it to her. So think you are safe for now….unless she has been snooping on my computer which I really doubt.
I cant believe you hesitated to go out last night. I remember the days when 11pm was early to you! 🙂

  2. Sophie looks great, and so does your sis’s present! You are quite the crafty girl!
My felted stuff always shrinks more that I think it will. I just get tired of knitting and want to felt RIGHT AWAY so sometimes I stop a little earlier that I should…

  3. Love the felted Sophie! Can you believe I have never felted?! I love the look of them. I must make one. Your Sis’ gift is fabulous! That kitty reminds me of the one you see all over Paris. I want to see a better picture of it, k?

  4. I was checking out my links and saw your post! How great! I love the glittery thread you used. *sigh* if only I had time to stitch up my own patterns. 🙂 I get re-inspired right back by my own crafty customers. Hope your sister enjoys your lovely handwork!
